About Us

Our History

Founded in the late 1990s, PBS began with a focus on constructing luxury homes and quickly adapted to the unique challenges of building in the islands—remote locations, unpredictable weather, and limited access to skilled trades. To overcome these obstacles, we strategically brought key aspects of the construction process in-house, growing both organically and through acquisition. Today, PBS stands as Fiji’s largest construction company, operating from a
3,000m² facility in Suva and a newly secured 2,000m² warehouse in the west.  We are also expanding with a purpose-built 4,000m² factory in Lami, set for completion in late 2025.

Our Culture

Timely delivery, reliability, and quality workmanship are central to PBS’s success, especially when working on remote, complex projects. Our team is built on a foundation of integrity, creativity, and a genuine passion for what we do. We’re committed to nurturing the growth of every team member, fostering a culture of collaboration, strong communication, and continuous development—both personally and professionally.

Our Approach

At PBS, we prioritize creating solutions that benefit our clients and partners. By combining traditional business values with innovative thinking, we ensure that every project is delivered with the highest standards of quality and client satisfaction. Our focus is on fostering strong relationships with all stakeholders, ensuring that collaboration is at the heart of every project we undertake.

Design & Build

Our work often begins long before actual construction starts.  As more and more clients are discovering. Our construction insights and experience can be a tremendous benefit during a project’s planning and design phase.  During critical phases, we engage the assistance if our design and build team with which we’ve had long and successful relationships.  We recognize that working with subject matter experts in their respective disciplines, as a project team is the most effective way to tackle design and build opportunities,

We use our collective experiences and capabilities, familiarity with materials, construction methods, history working in difficult and remote locations and equipment capabilities to develop practical approaches that save our clients’ money and time.

When provided with creative license, PBS is excited to include art as a form of construction to our jobs.  Our carvers and sculptors share a passion for evolving traditional forms of art and melding it into contemporary style for both homes and resorts.  The unmistakable South Pacific look and feel is a personalized compliment to any project.  We can work ordinary timber, stone, resin and concrete into something special if allowed the freedom to showcase our flair.

Thatching Workshop

Natural thatching methods have traditionally been passed down through generations in Fiji and the traditional “Na Bure” look is extremely popular with both homes and resorts.  We source our natural “soga”     leaves (palm) and “magimagi” (twine) from villages providing income to families and clans on the western coast of Viti Levu.   Soga is treated at the treatment plants prior to incorporating them into traditional kor     modern building techniques to create the most authentic backdrop possible.

Metal Workshop

The PBS Metal Workshop, originally a marine trade specialist operation acquired with our Suva factory, has evolved into a powerhouse of metalwork capability. Retaining the skilled team and methods, we now deliver a wide range of metalwork solutions, from intricate, custom-made aluminum and stainless-steel creations to complete steel building superstructures. Our metalwork team is a cohesive group of highly qualified and experienced locals, with over a decade of collaboration, driven by their commitment to excellence and precision craftsmanship.

PBS is a licensed wall frame and truss manufacturer.  Our Wall Framing Department precuts and prenails timber wall framing after our structural engineer uses the latest Pryda wall-builder software to detail structures to the highest level of accuracy and engineering.  The resulting graphics and details can then be downloaded directly to the company’s saws for cutting before the factory carpenters assemble and finish the components using Pryda Truss jogs and a Pryda Truss press.
